Our aviation data project started as a small project to track arrivals and departures at Bristol Airport, it quickly grew to include and show aircraft on the ground at Bristol. This data is still in use today on the Bristol Airport Spotting website. There was a discussion in the team for dedicated aircraft, fleet and airport data to be accurate, up to date and reliable which could be used by the aircraft spotting log software known as SpottingLog.
Now known as Fresh Aviation Data the project tracks over 450,000 aircraft, has information on more than 10,000 airports, 2000 airlines and more than a million flights. This data is currently being used on SpottingLog and Bristol Airport Spotting. The data and photos are provided by Opensky and SpottingLog together and has formed a great website that is slowly evolving and developing in the background.
