easyJet has announced the arrival of a brand-new Airbus A320neo at Bristol Airport, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s continued growth in the South West of England. The additional aircraft, the 19th to be based at Bristol, strengthens easyJet’s commitment to the region and enhances its ability to offer more choice and convenience to travellers.
The introduction of the A320neo is part of easyJet’s wider fleet modernisation programme. This next-generation aircraft is not only more fuel-efficient—using approximately 20% less fuel than older models—but also significantly quieter, reducing noise pollution in the surrounding communities. More than half of easyJet’s Bristol-based fleet now consists of these newer, environmentally friendlier aircraft, in line with Bristol Airport’s ambition to support more sustainable aviation.
Alongside the new aircraft, easyJet has launched two new routes from Bristol to Almeria in southern Spain and Palermo in Sicily. These services add to an already extensive network and bring the total number of easyJet routes from Bristol to 83, connecting passengers to 19 countries across Europe and North Africa. Flights to Almeria will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while Palermo will be served on Thursdays and Sundays, perfectly timed for summer holidaymakers.
This expansion is not just about connectivity. The new aircraft is expected to support around 400 jobs in the region, both directly and indirectly, and contribute approximately £27 million in economic value to the UK economy. The growth of operations at Bristol highlights easyJet’s role as a key player in the local travel and tourism industry.
easyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, emphasised the airline’s long-term commitment to the airport and the region. She highlighted how the added capacity allows easyJet to serve more passengers while supporting sustainable aviation goals. Bristol Airport’s Commercial Director, Rupert Lawrie, echoed these sentiments, welcoming the investment and applauding the focus on quieter, lower-emission aircraft.
Additionally, easyJet Holidays is expanding its package holiday offerings from Bristol, with thousands of trips available across beach and city destinations. These packages include flights, hand-picked hotels, 23kg of luggage, and airport transfers, offering customers more flexibility and value.
This summer is set to be easyJet’s busiest on record in the UK, with more than 33 million seats available and 44 new routes across the network. The airline continues to grow its presence, and the latest developments at Bristol Airport reaffirm its leading position in the UK leisure travel market.
With more aircraft, more routes, and a strong focus on sustainability and customer choice, easyJet’s expansion at Bristol Airport represents a major step forward for both the airline and the region. Travellers in the South West can look forward to greater travel options, better connectivity, and a greener way to fly.
