Leaf A340 receives Global Airlines livery

James Asquith, founder and CEO of UK long-haul startup Global Airlines, has released images showing a first Airbus A340-300 wearing Global titles and colour scheme.

The 25-year old aircraft, which bears registration 9H-SUN, remains on the AOC of Leaf, a newly-created subsidiary of HiFly Malta, and is currently operating on behalf of Surinam Airways having received the Global livery earlier this week in Beja. HiFly Malta has been a longstanding partner of Global since late 2023, and supported the London Gatwick-based startup to operate its first transatlantic flights earlier this year, using Global’s wholly-owned A380 on HiFly’s AOC.

Shortly before the appearance of Global’s first A340, Asquith spoke to Simple Flying with regards to its A380, saying that the aircraft is due to undertake a D Check but that the carrier has suffered from “huge backlogs in heavy maintenance slots for the aircraft.” He added that “We are looking at other aircraft types as well and still the A380 going forwards.”

It is not yet clear whether Global intends to utilise the A340 on further transatlantic services from the UK.
