British Airways Boeing 747-400 “Negus” at Cotswold Airport to open 1st March 2022

Cotswold Airport have announced that British Airways Boeing 747-400 “Negus” now in position at Cotswold Airport is to open to the public from 1st March 2022. Following a recent launch party to celebrate the completion of the aircraft being converted into a “party plane” which will be available to tour and hire. The aircraft will also be used as a museum piece for members of the public and local schools to visit.

In total Cotswold Airport spent £500,000 transforming the Boeing 747 jet into an events space for weddings, product launches, functions and parties. The aircraft has been completely rewired, placed on a £200,000 concrete pad and over £100,000 on lighting, sound system and an interior refit.

The aircraft was removed from the British Airways fleet in 2020 during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when BA removed all its Boeing 747 aircraft from its fleet, G-CIVB flew into Cotswold Airort from London Heathrow on 8th October 2020 to which would become her final resting place for years to come.

So who wants to party on Negus? You can now hire Negus for your next party, with rates starting at £1000 per hour, pricey but certainly unique! All proceeds raised from public visits will go towards the aircraft preservation and any excess funds will be donated to the Cotswold Airport scholarship fund to support young people into aviation.
