easyJet has announced plans to expand its operations at Bristol Airport by basing a 19th aircraft at the south west airport from June 2025. This expansion is expected to support approximately 400 jobs and enhance connectivity for passengers in the south west region.
The additional Airbus A320 family aircraft will enable easyJet to introduce two new routes:
- Almeria, Spain: A year-round service commencing on 24 June 2025, with flights operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
- Palermo, Italy: Seasonal flights to Sicily’s capital starting on 26 June 2025, available twice weekly during the summer on Thursdays and Sundays.
Tickets for these routes are now available for booking on easyJet’s website and mobile app, with fares starting from £29.99. Additionally, easyJet holidays is offering package deals to both destinations, including flights, hotel accommodations, and 23kg of luggage, all covered by their Ultimate Flexibility policy.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, stated that the airline’s success in Bristol reflects the strong demand for both leisure and business travel in the region. The introduction of the 19th aircraft is set to provide customers with greater choice and connectivity.
Rupert Lawrie, Commercial Director at Bristol Airport, welcomed the investment, noting that the new connections to Palermo and Almeria offer more options for travelers and encourage visitors from these regions to explore the southwest of England. He also highlighted that the new aircraft will be an Airbus A320neo, aligning with the airport’s commitment to operating newer, quieter, and more fuel-efficient planes.
In its 2024 financial year, easyJet transported a record number of passengers to and from Bristol, marking an 11% increase compared to the previous year. Since beginning operations at Bristol in May 2001, the airline has carried over 76 million customers and currently offers 83 routes to 19 countries from the airport.
This expansion underscores easyJet’s commitment to enhancing its services and meeting the growing demand for air travel in the southwest region.
