Ecojet, the Edinburgh-based Flag Carrier for Green Britain, has this week signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to buy up to 50 Linx P9 aircraft from ARC Aerosystems at the Farnborough International Airshow. The order includes an initial commitment to 20 aircraft, with options for a further 30, and factors in Pre-Delivery Payments (PDPs) based on agreed milestones between the two parties.
The Linx P9 is a compound gyroplane which builds on 20th-century concepts, using modern technology in order to create a more sustainable alternative to conventional aircraft. It is capable of vertical take-offs and landings (VTOL), much like a helicopter, yet is able to cruise like a conventional aeroplane due to its unpowered main rotor. These characteristics result in reduced fuel consumption and greater range, as well as a higher level of safety and stability due to the main rotor’s constant state of autorotation.
Dale Vince: We’re planning to take intercity travel to new heights with ARC Gyrocopters.

Ecojet was launched last July by climate activist and green industrialist Dale Vince, who today said that “We’re planning to take intercity travel to new heights with ARC Gyrocopters. Not only will these aircraft be emission free, [but they’ll also] enable us to connect towns and cities across the UK without the need for an airport. The Linx aircraft are unique; they take off and land vertically like a helicopter but fly like a conventional plane. The green industrial revolution is here. It’s not just going to enable the things we already do to be done in a net zero way – it’s going to enable a whole new approach to things like travel.”
Dr Seyed Mohseni, CEO of ARC Aerosystems, added that, “Through this partnership with Ecojet, we are shaping the future of aviation with sustainable, innovative solutions.”
ARC Aerosystems recently signed an LOI with Sky Angels Air Ambulance for 10 of its smaller P3 aircraft, which are based on a 1960s design for which ARC now holds the Type Certificate. Ecojet is the first customer for the larger 9-seater P9 model.
