Gloucestershire Airport back to normal operating hours

Gloucestershire Airport has returned to its standard operating hours and expresses gratitude to all for their patience and support during the summer. The Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Briefing teams have demonstrated exceptional dedication and hard work.

The ATC succession and training initiatives are progressing well. Notably, Chris Fox has rejoined the team after a brief departure to explore other career opportunities. He is already qualified to control operations in the Tower and is undergoing training for the Approach Procedural position.

Additionally, congratulations are extended to Conrad Hollamby, who has qualified as an Air Traffic Services Assistant. With eight years of experience in Landside Operations at the airport, Conrad’s achievement marks a significant milestone, and he is a valuable addition to the ATC team.

Furthermore, Rhys Donnelly has successfully completed his validation in the Tower after just five months of training. Previously serving as an Air Traffic Services Assistant at Oxford Airport, Rhys obtained his Aerodrome rating from Global ATS, based at Gloucestershire Airport. This position represents his first role as a validated Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO). His colleagues across the airport commend his accomplishment.

Alexander Hawkins, Deputy Manager of Air Traffic Services at Gloucestershire Airport, remarked: “I’d like to say a massive congratulations to Rhys, who after months of on-the-job training, passed his ADI validation board with the CAA in October. Before Rhys started on-the-job training at Gloucester, he had to complete the Basic & Aerodrome course to obtain his Student ATCO licence, so this is the culmination of years of hard work to reach this point.”

These developments underscore Gloucestershire Airport’s commitment to maintaining a skilled and dedicated ATC team, ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of its operations.
