On December 11, 2024, Bristol Airport and Jet2.com collaborated to bring festive joy to local children and their families through a special charity Santa flight. The event marked the return of the popular Santa flight, which had been on hiatus since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 80 children and 70 adults participated, including families associated with charities such as the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), Children’s Hospice South West, British Heart Foundation, and Weston Hospice. Additionally, students from local schools—Winford Church of England Primary School, Wrington C of E Primary School, Court de Wyck Church School in Claverham, and Backwell C of E Junior School—joined the festivities.
The celebration began at the Jet2.com check-in desk, where participants received festive boarding cards. At the gate, entertainment included face painting, a magician, music, and an appearance by Blaze Bear, Bristol Airport’s Fire Team mascot.
The flight journeyed over Mid Wales, reaching an altitude of 10,000 feet, where Santa Claus made a surprise appearance, delighting the young passengers. The onboard experience featured party games and Christmas carols led by the Jet2.com cabin crew. Upon landing, children were invited into the cockpit to meet the Captain and First Officer, followed by photos with Santa and the distribution of Christmas presents.
Tracy Comer, Community Relations Manager at Bristol Airport, expressed her delight: “It was wonderful to be able to do this for some very brave children and their families, and it’s all thanks to Jet2.com. There was so much excitement on board, especially when the faint jingle of bells could be heard.”
Blake Jones, a member of the Jet2.com cabin crew at Bristol Airport, remarked: “The excitement onboard was truly magical, and the smiles and joy on the children’s faces will live long in the memory. Christmas is a time for creating special memories and we are sure we have done that today.”
This heartwarming event underscores the commitment of Bristol Airport and Jet2.com to supporting the local community and providing memorable experiences for children and families during the holiday season.
