The first Lufthansa flight from Bristol Airport to Frankfurt departed today operated by Lufthansa Regional on an Embraer 190 aircraft.
It isnt the first time flights from Bristol Airport to Frankfurt have taken place as the route has been previously served by BMI Regional and Lufthansa some years ago, the launch of flights is another milestone and step forward in improving connectivity especially for business travellers from the south west regional airport.
From September 2021 the flights will become a daily service providing business travellers with an increased opportunity to trade in one of the world’s leading financial centres and also opens the door for multiple onward connections for leisure travellers to long haul destinations or short haul within Europe.
Dave Lees, CEO, Bristol Airport previously commented:
“This is incredibly positive news for Bristol Airport and the region. Lufthansa is a major global airline and this decision shows confidence in air travel returning to normal. The new daily service commencing 2 August between Bristol and Frankfurt opens up a wide range of European and worldwide connections to our customers. Frankfurt is a great city whether for business or leisure and the link between Bristol and Frankfurt allows us to promote the South West and Wales region to inbound visitors from Germany and beyond. Today’s news is a strong indication of the confidence in the region. We see great potential for this new service and will work with Lufthansa on other exciting route opportunities in the future.“
We were privileged to be airside today to capture the arrival and departure of the first flight and thank Bristol Airport for their assistance. We look forward to seeing Lufthansa operating from Bristol Airport and possibly opening up further routes in the future.
