Pegasus Airlines have announced a new route from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen to Bristol Airport starting July 2025. Pegasus Airlines, Turkey’s leading low-cost carrier, has been continuining to expand its European network. This move aligns with Pegasus’s strategy to enhance its presence in underserved yet promising markets.
Following reporting late last year a rumour Pegasus could be about to launch flights, Bristol Airport has been proactive in attracting new airlines and routes to meet rising demand. Its recent infrastructure upgrades signal readiness to accommodate more long-haul and medium-haul flights. Additionally, the South West of England has seen increased interest from Turkish travelers, with limited direct links to Istanbul, suggesting untapped potential.
These new flights open up onward travel to the Middle East, Far East and beyond with connecting flights through the hub airport, something Bristol Airport has been looking to expand into.
Flights will operate from 8th July 2025 on the following rotations:
- PC1196 SAW 07:45am – 10:20am BRS (Tue)
- PC1196 SAW 08:35am – 11:10am BRS (Thu)
- PC1196 SAW 11:45am – 14:20pm BRS (Sat)
- PC1197 BRS 11:40am – 17:50pm SAW (Tue)
- PC1197 BRS 12:15pm – 18:25pm SAW (Thu)
- PC1197 BRS 15:25pm – 21:35pm SAW (Sat)
Benefits of a Bristol-Istanbul Route
Introducing a direct flight between Bristol and Istanbul offers several advantages:
Convenience: Travelers from the South West of England and Wales would benefit from direct access to Istanbul, eliminating the need to transit through London
Tourism Growth: Direct connectivity could boost tourism in both directions, facilitating easier access to Istanbul’s historic sites and the South West’s scenic landscapes
Business Opportunities: The route could strengthen trade and investment ties between the two regions, fostering economic growth

For instance, flights from Istanbul to London Stansted are listed as operational, while services to London Heathrow and Manchester are marked with “Flight dates will be announced,” indicating potential future services.
