It has been reported that Hungarian low cost carrier Wizz Air has dropped flights from Katowice to Bristol Airport. All flights have been removed for booking from the Wizz Air website and information removed from the Bristol Airport website.
Flights operated throughout the year with a mix of Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 aircraft, usually evenings on Thursdays and Sundays. The last flight operated to Bristol on Sunday 5th November 2023.
In recent months Cardiff Airport has also lost Wizz Air after its big plans to base many aircraft and launch many flights from the South Wales airport were backtracked. Aircraft were positioned into the airport ahead of a launch in April 2022 to be Wizz Air’s fourth UK base, initially operating to 9 destinations across Europe the plug was pulled and tickets had to be refunded.
We are unsure at this stage on the decision to withdraw flights, whether it was due to low passenger numbers or Wizz Air consolidating routes which the low-cost airline has been carrying out lately.
