Jet2 to remove Bristol to Salzburg route

Following research and various online sources, Jet2 has dropped its Bristol to Salzburg route from the Winter 2023-4 flying programme in response to recent changes in demand. The Austrian city’s alpine landscapes have long been a winter favourite with British travellers, however the predominantly holiday carrier has been less successful than hoped in establishing itself on the route, which launched in December 2021.

However, it must also be noted that Jet2 has also launched three brand new winter routes from Bristol, with capacity increasing by 50% over last winter with increased flying on existing routes bringing 12 “winter sun” destinations through to spring 2024. Jet2, the UK’s leading airline and tour operator to the Canaries is offering up to 18 weekly services to the Canary Islands from Bristol Airport next winter – meaning their programme to the Canaries is increasing by a third in the coming winter.

Bristol retains direct services to Salzburg from easyJet and TUI, the latter of whom recently elected to end long-haul services from Bristol, and both carriers have a strong presence at both airports.
